Midtown Modern is situated along Tan Quee Lan Street, right above Bugis MRT Interchange Station

For working professionals, time is highly prized. Staying in a location near amenities and public transport would allow more time for personal activities.

Slated for completion in 2025, Midtown Modern, right in the heart of the CBD, will offer convenience for its residents. Situated along Tan Quee Lan Street, the development will be located above Bugis MRT Interchange Station on the Downtown and East-West Lines.

“Being directly connected to the MRT station gives you convenience and saves time, rather than being stuck in a traffic jam [when] going to places,” says Dora Chng, general manager for residential at GuocoLand Singapore.

Midtown Modern also offers a wide range of amenities at its doorstep. It is minutes’ walk from the larger, integrated development of Guoco Midtown, which comprises a Grade-A office tower, a residential component, a business and social networking club, and three retail villages with different offerings and concepts.

Through Guoco Midtown, homeowners at Midtown Modern can also enjoy direct and sheltered access to three other MRT stations: City Hall MRT Interchange Station, Promenade MRT Interchange Station and Esplanade MRT Station.

The locality of the project offers a lot of diversity. “Within walking distance, there is so much that you can do with your loved ones or your children,” says Chng. “There are arts, culture, and heritage in the area such as Kampong Glam. You have the mosques, the Indian temples, the Chinese Guan Yin temple,
and you have the public library where you can bring your child for storytelling sessions, for example.”

Ample space and amenities for larger families

Midtown Modern can also cater to larger families who wish to live in the city centre. Its four-bedder offerings span 1,442 to 1,808 sq ft, sizeable enough to accommodate rooms with various functions.

As the pandemic has caused remote working to be a widespread practice, GuocoLand has also taken this into account and designed its facilities  accordingly. Residents can work from spaces in the lobby area carved out for this very purpose. “If you have to be home throughout the week, I think you would want a bit of respite from the enclosure of your own home,” says Chng.

The facilities also accommodate different uses. For instance, the space at the groundfloor lobby can be booked for a party and because it is away from the residential blocks, other residents would not be disturbed by the noise, explains Chng. Typically in other condos, hosts organising gatherings at the common
facilities would have to be mindful of the noise levels.

Gardens that take after three seasons

Although CBD living is more commonly associated with living in a concrete jungle, GuocoLand has designed 30 themed gardens within Midtown Modern that take after three different seasons — spring, summer, and autumn. There is a nook which is designed to fit a hot spring pool and an adjacent jacuzzi,
and has a stream that meanders into the larger 50m lap pool, describes Chng. “This forms a part of a very private enclave within the gardens for residents to relax in,” she adds.

Unlike most developments where the landscaping looks manicured, GuocoLand has designed the greenery at Midtown Modern to emulate a wild forest. The development’s landscaping draws ideas from a wide variety of natural landscapes. At the lap pool, for instance, the trees are planted close to the pool’s edge, mimicking a dense canopy of trees growing along the sides of a riverbank.
